Seals History
HISTORY
Seals Swimming Club has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1907 in Pietermaritzburg. Over the years, the club has grown and developed, becoming one of the premier swimming clubs in KwaZulu-Natal.
The club has produced numerous successful swimmers and has been involved in various competitive events, including the famous aQuellé Midmar Mile, the world’s largest open water mile race. Under the leadership of Wayne Riddin for the past 34 years, Seals Swimming Club has continued to thrive and maintain a strong presence in the swimming community.
Under Riddin’s mentorship, the Seals Swimming Club has produced numerous successful swimmers who have gone on to achieve great things at national and international levels. His dedication to the sport and commitment to his swimmers’ development have made a significant impact on the swimming community.
Seals Swimming Club has produced several Olympic swimmers over the years and is still the only club in the country to have had an Olympic representative at every Olympics since 1992.~E
