Getting Involved at Seals Swimming Club

The facility at GC Jolliffe Pool in Pietermaritzburg would not have been possible to install, nor to maintain, without funds generated by the annual aQuellé Midmar Mile open water swim.

It goes without saying that the more volunteers we have involved in the event, the lower some of our costs are to run it and every year, we are grateful to our members and their families for the contribution they make towards the success of the event. It is these contributions (time, expertise, experience and resources) that mean those using the GC Jolliffe facility can do so at a vastly reduced cost, as profits from aQuellé Midmar Mile help subsidise the running costs.

Any sports club functions better when the members are actively involved. It makes all the difference when everyone comes together to make an event successful and fun and we are always grateful to our members and families who go that extra mile. Team spirit is vital in an institution like Seals and we want to enable everyone to add value, play to their strengths and be part of the “teamwork that makes the dream work” !

Seals holds the record for the longest standing refreshment table at the Comrades Marathon and it’s a fantastic time for our swimmers and parents to help out, have a fun day and soak up the atmosphere!
A roster for working at the event goes up outside the Seals Front Office a few weeks prior.
